i don't think you necessarily need the funniest or smartest people on farcaster for people to want to spend their time here when you get to know someone, even their more menial content becomes interesting to you the people who's content i enjoy the most on farcaster aren't famous or necessarily exceptional in their fields or even post about a certain topic. they're just normal people (often like-minded peopel) who i have gotten to know over time and now feel emotionally invested in i don't think it's necessarily trivial to reproduce this outcome, but i think it's definitely worth exploring

Fair, but “making friends on the internet” doesn’t have a natural growth mechanic other than invites

I would think that it results in positive experiences which results in growth through word of mouth On the other hand when people engage with you and you’re having a good experience you feel compelled to post more. Some people will grow an audience and like you said in the past farcaster will mint new stars. When that happens you end up with content other platforms don’t have I’m just spitballing, maybe you see a different outcome

I think it's the most differentiated thing we have as a network (other than crypto infrastructure under the hood). Challenge is figuring out how to 1) find / target 2) market 3) retain people who don't yet know they want to make new internet friends. Closest analogs are Meet Up (didn't work) and dating apps.

yeah i'm inclined to think that making internet friends doesn't necessarily have universal appeal so you're probably not going to get a billion users with that value proposition alone, but still more than enough to bootstrap a highly active network with organic growth imo the challenge is not easy but action produces information :) it's funny you mention dating apps because i've seen lots of people call twitter a dating app (same probably goes for other platforms). i suspect there will be lots of technological overlap in a client focused on connecting people and dating apps
