Making of the Ceremonial Cacao

I love being around people who engage in preserving and reviving ancestral and indigenous knowledge. Fortunately, I have often been allowed to partake in and document through my camera some of the most beautiful facilitation and healing modalities.

Creating ceremonial cacao pebbles takes about two days. The entire ritual is approached with conscious steps, accompanied by recitals of prayers and songs. During this step in the long process, the Shaman places raw cacao paste bits in the sun to melt, as no artificial heat is allowed to touch it.

I regularly drink straight cocoa powder with a little bit of milk for that natural sweetness.
