I have a brand new Model Y Tesla that I bought at the end of 2024, my first EV and new car ever. Despite an intense, deep seat, long lasting hate-affair with Elon-- the guy who absolutely was not a founder of Tesla. Why? Well because I thought then as I think now that they are the best self driving EVs available in the USA. Granted I bought this car after HW4 (5+ iterations), many FSD versions later, and years after Elon promised FSD. Anyway, not going to pretend I didn't know Elon was a huge self absorbed narcissist that few people want to work with, and that there were not many early warning signs. (I still love my car)

I drove one for the first time this weekend. Do I like it. Not really. Kinda annoying. Def don’t hate it. And also thinking about buying one now. Can see how they will take over and be mass produced. And win the robo-taxi war.

most of the time the car drives me around, which at my age is officially amazing. driven enough in my life already thank you very much interventions are rare, but they exist, eventually the car is going to need to read signs other than speed limits.

My wife. (Who hates Elon) thinks I need it. She is correct in me being a less than perfectly observant driver. The bells and whistles are pretty comprehensive. Annoying. But hey. Like you said. Personal chauffeur. I can Learn to deal with it.
