Realizing I recontextualized the sentiment. If you mean you're seeing more contributions from people who don't have any coding experience, I'm all for that actually. F*** the bots though.

There's no magic in 99% of projects when they treat the decentralized *difficult* parts as optional, but really that's where inspiration comes from. There's nothing inspired in another money grab L2 or casino. That said lots of us wants to do it right! The principles still matter in 2025 if you know where to look.

Number of unique IP addresses signing blocks. Can be monitored using power data from a few geographically distributed nodes probably.

This is an apt metaphor for the rise of AI companies and the products they aim to build. To be honest as fukc. And it was 1999...before web2 even existed!

Hard agree. There's something there for Gex Xers who didn't vibe with grunge / nirvana but literally nobody else as far as I know.

This cast was triggered when I read the 7693rd "how we onboard the next million users post" and it was more crypto apologism

In web2 you can market to the ignorant masses who don't care if the product they're consuming is literal malware because they don't do anything valuable with their computer anyway. This is why Crypto exists: to be NOT that. Crypto is about humans having agency to choose NOT to be the product. Strongly believe that this is why centralized crypto products (vc coins mostly) have failed to retain market value. They buy exchange listings and they have a huge supply of locked tokens to make it look like they're valuable but really.... You've abstracted away or deleted the magic, and custodied the users funds with multisig upgradability and nobody wants it. It's not stimulating enough for the normies, and it's not crypto enough for anyone who cares. Nobody wants it. I'm here to build REAL things. Looking for friends.

Stark contrast - Crypto is about humans having agency to choose NOT to be the product. Strongly believe that this is why centralized / vc crypto is failing. It has no magic. Love that, and I love it even more if in practice I get asked every time and never for all of my stuff. (Unironically) I think we should get used to paying approvals instead of signing our lives away.
