I strongly recommend reading "The Southern Reach Trilogy" by Jeff VanderMeer which it is based. So much more strangeness, brilliance and wyrd harmonies to tune in on. The Film actually does a surprisingly good job but it is only the surface. Coincidently an unexpected fourth book just got added to the trilogy:
