The names are an address in the Urbit Azimuth system. They correspond to your location, and it isn't necessarily important to be overly picky, but it's probably a good idea to find a name that rolls off the tongue well and is memorable. If you get familiar with and like Urbit you can always change your Urbit ID (@p).

That's exactly what I did to start out! Red Horizon can host your planet for you, and when you're ready you can host on your own. I just got a Native Planet box in the last month and am hosting 5 other people's ships besides my own. I'm no dev either haha. There are sub ~$250 NP boxes coming out soon.

You can spin up a planet a few different ways, probably the lowest friction right now is through Red Horizon (https://redhorizon.com/), or if you want to run your Urbit on your own hardware, I'd recommend looking at Native Planet (https://www.nativeplanet.io/). I'm ~tansyr-tilbus on the network. DM me if you get on!
