this feels like the wrong lesson - using any of these minting protocols like zora manifold highlight are still "deploying your OWN work". instead imo it's something to tackle at the grant funding layer to support these folks better would be a step back if we stopped taking advantage of smart contract building blocks

yeah am aware re criteria for this round, was just responding to carlos' point - am sure future rounds will support the various diff types of builders creators etc who may not have deployed their own contracts

@soyboy the people who are upset also won't qualify for the planned upcoming rounds which are *more* narrow than this one, not less I don't have a dog in this fight personally since Splits qualifies for this round, but I think the communication around this really fell short (as I also said on Twitter)

Thanks for the links! In the same blog article that’s linked there’s a very clear description of eligibility for the rounds. This is also following the art competition and airdrop 4 that focused on creators. Personally I don’t give this criticism much weight & there will be more rounds in the future 🤷‍♂️

I think it's hard to argue that this paragraph wasn't misleading given that evidently "every Zora project is eligible for Retro Funding" isn't true (for example) https://warpcast.com/sweetman.eth/0xe9080806

I can see how it could be confusing if these were the last rounds of retro funding. The point of the mechanism is to be continuous, iterative, and serve the whole superchain. Which is why feedback is great for future rounds. Rounds 4-7 each target different groups and the criteria is clear in that article.
