Right there with ya! Then you begin learning how to discern wether pivoting to something that refills the creative energy or pushing through is a better use of time. Hard to tell some days

@trh (could you drop the link if you have it handy?) shared an essay making an analogy between the creative process and a cow producing milk. 

Looks at the long span of time where the cow is standing around appearing to be doing nothing (fully active in the milk generation process), then a small window where milk output occurs.
