Why didn't eGPUs take off for macOS users? No buy option for silicon-chipped Macbooks :(

Lack of drivers and stability I think. I used one once and it was a bit terrible.

A great idea that was ultimately a half baked solution
A few reasons:
-it was bulky & required a power supply, so it wasn’t as portable as it was advertised to be
-it had massive latency issues (thunderbolt cables at the time couldnt keep up)
-significantly more expensive than desktop graphics cards at the time
