1/ XMTP's V3 update this week laid the foundation for truly chain-agnostic, peer-to-peer messaging. Here's what this could look like in action, courtesy of v0 and Tailwind. Demo: https://v0-xmtp-v3-wireframes.vercel.app/ Walkthrough:👇

XMTP V3 changes how identity works for messaging. In V2, your inbox was your wallet — tightly bound to a single ETH address. Yesterday's V3 update decoupled that. Here's what changed 👇

Passkey inboxes make it so that, in theory, any ownable identity can use XMTP. All it needs is keys to sign with. Which kind of identity should XMTP support next?

4/ AFK insurance for alpha groups Listens in the gc and makes trades based on what it hears Any group member can fund the agent and get a dividend Now it hurts less when you're offline

Here's how this works: 1. Your device securely stores a passkey 2. This passkey controls your XMTP ID, just like a private key controls your crypto wallet

I could not be more excited about XIP-55: https://community.xmtp.org/t/xip-55-passkey-identity/874 Passkey accounts and wallet accounts, all on the same network. It's instant access to decentralized messaging for anyone with an Apple or Android device.

Funny how open decentralized networks provide better privacy than 'secure' walled gardens - there's no single entity that can be legally compelled to compromise the system. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2025/02/07/apple-encryption-backdoor-uk/

For 3 years, we've been obsessed with one thought: What if messaging belonged to all? Today's testnet launch is a giant leap towards that future - where privacy is the default, spam is dead on arrival, and you can truly own your identity and communications.

Incredibly proud of @xmtp's trailblazing production implementation of Messaging Layer Security, ratified last year by the IETF as the new internet standard for secure, private messaging.

Smart wallets will onboard the next billion. XIP-44 brings them to XMTP using ERC-1271 signature verification. This means any smart contract that adds the ERC-1271 interface can use the network directly. Voila: trustless business messaging for NFT creators, DeFi protocols, DAOs, etc.

Was so cool to see @paragraph frames just appear in @converseapp without a software update. Composability is magic.

What excites me the most about /open-frames is that each new context inspires new experiences. Feeds -> multiplayer, public Group chat -> multiplayer, private DMs (+ bots) -> single-player, private Congratulations @df @nickm @mg on extending Frames into these new canvases, and more to come.

GROUP CHAT is now available on the XMTP dev network. 🔐 End-to-end encrypted w/ IETF Messaging Layer Security 👥 Groups of up to 250 members (but more later) 🔑 Token-gate w/ @airstack.eth data 🖼️ Yes, it's Frames-ready Builders, start your engines.
