An overabundance of images is why we’re seeing culture retreat back into the physical. IRL events, a resurgence of craft, local community building. We can only gain a deep and embodied relationship with culture through lived experience.

What are the key markers you’ve seen showing the retreat physicalwards? My slice of the internet/life tends always to show this and I’m curious what’s broken orbit to signal a bona fide broader culture move.

general online trend fatigue pushing people to cultivate deeper relationships with media, online and offline (people getting into reading, the rise of substack), and with real life. In terms of IRL I’ve been seeing a lot of community driven events, concerts held in alternative spaces, in-person “scenes” forming in NYC and LA (where i live) around alt-lit readings, or experimental theater, or the like. Things you’d have to be more “in the know” to realize were happening, and which don’t translate super well over the internet.
