Decided today that we’re not going to be working on /nook anymore. It was originally meant for us to play around with and learn new tech and has served that purpose. We don’t really see a path forward in continuing to build the client, so we’re going to explore some non-Farcaster ideas instead. More soon!

wowow, you seemed so excited not long ago. Is there something that you learned about that turned you off from building on top of Farcaster?

Just not viable anytime soon. Had to be realistic before wasting more time. We also have had a few other ideas queued up

Im assuming not viable anytime soon = too many spam accounts, not enough real users?

A client has a one-way dependency on Merkle. The only growth option for a client is to acquire new users. Building in crypto is hard enough, no need for the dependency.

I feel that may only change once Direct casts go into protocol so any client doesn't churn users just because they check DMs

by one-way you mean that you have to depend on merkle to onboard new users, or you’d rather want them to bring new users and focus on client development?

Seems reasonable now you can build something else i heard that supercast too has a lot of issues because of merkle dependency...

Had similar discoveries mousing around too! Hard enough for people to not be alarmed for anything crypto related let alone adding a whole layer to it all!

Thanks for the reflection! Is it the hub dependency or accounts custodied by warpcast?
