US-sanctioned crypto mixer Tornado Cash recorded an influx of deposits of $1.8 billion in the first half of 2024. This is 45% more than for the whole of 2023.

Since the end of May, the volume of funds inside the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned cryptomixer Tornado Cash has grown by more than 20%, exceeding 170,000 ETH ($550 million), according to the dashboard dedicated to the mixer statistics on the Dune service. In comments to Bloomberg, a representative of the analytical company Chainalysis said that other similar services have become active in 2024, including JoinMarket or the Wasabi crypto wallet with a built-in mixer function.
