HIERONYMUS BOSCH (1450 - 1516) The peaceful atmosphere of the painting perfectly reflects Antony's inner tranquility, and once again emphasizes the eternal triumph of piety over sin. Indeed, Antony may seem so peaceful that he may well not even be bothered by Bosch's menacing creatures invading his personal space.
