REMBRANDT VAN RIJN (1606 - 1669) "The Prodigal Son" Rembrandt wrote a few months before his death. It's the culmination of his work. His masterpiece. In front of which a crowd gathers in the Hermitage every day. The old father has found peace again. His youngest son has returned. He does not hesitate to forgive him the squandered inheritance. No reproach. Only mercy. A father's forgiving love. "Return of the Prodigal Son" (1669).
