Max Planck He was one of the most important German physicists in the 19th and early 20th centuries. With his studies in the field of energy and heat, Planck formed one of the most important theories of modern physics. This success earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918 for his quantum theory. He was also elected a member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Sciences, and the French Academy of Sciences for his services to physics.
