imo vc is overhated as a meme retail crypto sees venture capital firms as these sort of big bad evil puppeteers looming over the industry. cuz the incentives of the game got a bit distorted. once the mkt resolves that issue tho, i anticipate RETVRN to true vc which still requires edge, thesis formation, and respect for the art and craft of company building

good take but i also think the ability for teams to bootstrap is better than ever Regardless most moonshot business require VC and capital injections to have a shot at change an industry or changing the world

yep, investment from outsiders is why the global stock market is worth $124 trilly i get we want some new incentive models and we want retail to have access to deals too - in full alignment w removing the accredited investor rule - but give me 100x growth, on better tech, where ppl risk large sums of capital early and get rewarded for that risk, versus no one risking that capital at all

I feel like the crypto community views VCs as the 'bad guys' because they're seen as profit-driven and out of touch with the space. Most people think VCs are only in it for the quick flip and don't actually care about the projects they're investing in which is kinda true for a decent amount of them. But at the end of the day, can we really blame them for being profit-driven?

agreed, although it's at least partly based on vc money that is really looking for quick returns. there's a huge difference between investors, even though they're broadly in the same category.

pretty sure VC is the contempt shown toward the average people. im more jealous as a market participant that i will never get VC prices. and its incestuous at this point. all roads lead to Paypal and FB. (google ventures too) super over simplifying. they also killed there own bank because they couldnt circle the wagons. tradefi circles wagons (most of the time)
