Sometimes I think the male psyche (or the masculine polarity, if you will) prefers boom-and-bust over equanimity. I suspect this is because it uses stress as a mechanism to learn its own limits

good insight, I think the secret for men here is to learn how to purposefully cultivate boom and bust energy in specific areas/contexts of their lives, instead of being artificially manipulated into it by external forces

I think the volatility has to be in realms you care about -- eg. protecting your family or community, or building a project that realizes your deep visions for the world
