woah, would love to hear more details about your swim training I’ve always struggled with it when I tried but admittedly also haven’t been consistent

Many thoughts!!! Lucky enough to be able to have an ironman coach to schedule my workouts. But it follows what you'd expect, aerobic sessions, threshold sessions, pyramid sets, working in the pull buoy between sets. But I actually couldn't complete a fraction of any scheduled workout for a the first month because my swim was so inefficient. Didn't go the route of getting a swim coach (I've prolly formed bad habits) but there's so much good content online. Learned the differences between endurance swimming & sprints -- barely use your legs!! They burn too much energy And big unlock was learning to focus in on my breathing in relation to my stroke. That helped me be able to "pick" my HR by adjusting cadence mid swim. Finding that "Zone2" in the pool. Just like running And before every swim, I would watch a video about 1 specific thing and try to be self-aware enough to incorporate. HIGHLY recommend effortlesswimming on youtube and instagram. Don't overwhelm yourself trying to fix it all. One thing at a time
