+1, it's a mess, I think other clients should copy warpcast unless they have specific features and a really good reasoning to make them different most of my activity here involves notifs

Something @neynar could potentially fix. One option is to take hashes of notification contents and then add the hashes to a bloom filter and the bloom filter can be used to check if a user has viewed the notification without revealing the content of the notification allowing all clients to plug into it.
