I believe after time away I’ll be able to see it with fresh eyes and a renewed sense of wonder for the place. Having gallivanted around Tokyo makes me want to do the same for New York, I had become a bit desensitized to the whole thing.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder ftw That’s the rose tinted glasses effect of being away from home/out of country for a while (which can be leveraged for a ton of positive personal mindset changes) I’ve always found what folks call reverse culture shock to be equally interesting especially when coming back to the US from ne asia when all the previously ignored/unperceived deficiencies may all of a sudden come into the forefront of perception
