unpopular but can we stop pretending memecoins is anything other than gambling you’re not going to onboard more users, and you’re just perpetuating the idea that crypto is risky and you’ll lose money if you touch it there’s not long-term vision in this, both as a platform, creator, or “trader” ($higher is an exception) what are we doing with our time again? (fyi i do buy memecoins occasionally)

i mean it’ll definitely onboard users… but i agree, it’s strictly gambling in 99% of cases

idk i just can’t imagine telling my friends “come gamble on some coins” as a way of getting them onchain the “get paid for posting” narrative was much more convincing imo

the ability to get paid for posting is propped up by speculative desire - mints overwhelmingly are minted for speculation reasons, degen tip value is propped up by people speculating on degen coin, etc don’t think you get permissionless “get paid for posting” without gambling energy and capital

agree yeah, i view gambling as a different category to this type of culture speculation. maybe it’s closer to investing to me. like if i mint music, designs, art, i bet on the long term vision of a creator capital upsides def need to stay
