the virgil-ification of everything risks a return to the stuckness modernism caused now we’re stuck at the postmodern irony of someone’s design language no different to being stuck at le corbusier or lloyd wright i too def had my virgil phase but imo we’re seeing an interpretation of his philosophy as a set of guidelines, rather than, what i think he advocated for too: discovering your own his harvard lecture was literally about that; find your own design principles and amplify them

a tangible of example of “software as self-expression” is which chain you use most. aligning yourself with base, solana, or, zora for example all say something different about you.

as irl augments with digital more, the aesthetics of software will matter more. software as self-expression.

seeing this trend of platforms setting up their own onchain name systems similar to ens some things just need to be centralised, the whole point is you get a portable id

crossing algorithmic paths is such a beautiful thing online we meet in the feed, get a window into each other’s life for a fleeting week or long years, then inevitably part ways

tbh just doing a bunch of projects that ended up flopping over the years was the most valuable practice no way i would’ve learned anything about practical execution if wasn’t for those

i’m a proponent of letting the medium inform the aesthetic which is why i never use photocopy, paper or other analogue textures in digital work i’m rly into amplifying the things native to on-screen media: motion, interaction, colours not (easily) reproducible in print
