Our reliance on X as an industry probably stunts us rather than accelerates us. No business cares about twitter, they care about IG and TikTok

Connections and relationships made over Twitter definitely influence the acceleration of every industry in tech imo. Both of the industries you mention are bigger and older than Twitter so yea they don’t happen “because of it” but they are influenced by it 100% imo

Within crypto, much of the nft asset class is created and influenced by Twitter. Any pfp project wouldn’t have gotten traction without the social layer that leverages it, and most onchain digital art etc wouldn’t have been valued that way without it
