Ooh this is a really interesting question. I apologize in advance for not having enough formal music knowledge to write with: Although I canβt think of many examples off the top of my head, I do think itβs out there. And now youβre going to have me specifically listening for it. Which Iβm excited to do. I wonder if itβs more common in tape loop music. Because they do the thing where they drag out a loopβs tempo, and then stack other loops on top of that, to gradually make new rhythms. So perhaps tape music, or stuff that draws from tape music, is a place where it may be. I also imagine there are examples in music that is just all keyboard synths. Since thereβs a lot of similarity to classical piano music sometimes. The best example I can think of is OPN. Which is obvious, like you say, with vaporwave. I guess Burial as well. But I think Burial does it in more of a controlled, mechanical way. Not so loose and expressive like OPN. But now Iβm on a mission to listen for it π«‘
