I feel like there’s ~ two parts to being creative: 1) coming up with all the ideas 2) focus in & select the idea It’s like filming a film, the first part is shooting the actors and getting footage. The second part is all editing The first part is finding out what you can be, the second part decides what you are

I'd add a third part, that being executing on the idea. Yes, there's a creative process to 1 & 2, but no matter how good of an idea it is, it can still die on the vine at these stages. The ones that make it through allow for that creativity to flourish

Yes, and I think letting an idea "die" can be very difficult, especially when there's been a lot of time/effort leading up to. But I've noticed that often, when I completely abandon an idea and start over, whatever replaces it is 100× better.
