To me, DAOs are extremely interesting live-experiments on coordination and governance mechanisms. Contrary to popular belief, however, they are hard to navigate for newcomers. And often, they can be frustrating even for seasoned participants. I think they can work, but with two things in mind: 1) There's no one-size-fits-all. DAOs for different protocols and for different purposes might need different approaches and structures. 2) Each DAO needs to find, decide, and agree on the overarching vision. Otherwise, every contributor is walking in the dark, searching for validation from others who are also walking in the dark.

It occured to me that long-term direction is difficult to find in a DAO because it's governed both by users and builders at the same time, the incentives of which are not necessarily always aligned.

Should risk-minimizing mechanisms like clawback, streams, multisigs be used in all cases of grants? We have an average Joe asking for $100k, and we also have Vitalik asking for $100k. Should both have the same treatment in regards to the execution of the grant, given both proposals are equally good?

I think I want to start being more avtive here after exploring other web3 social platforms. The lack of financial incnetives keeps interactions pure.

I'm actually rereading this one myself. It's really a great book. Fun fact: It's the book that "sealed the deal" to convince Michael Saylor of Microstrategy to invest in Bitcoin

I have made a habit out of reading in distraction-free environments, but I somehow haven't found the motivation to start writing notes. Maybe that's why I was bad at school - wasn't using the right system to learn. Thanks for the input!
