I'm like, partially convinced certain clothing/shoe brands do this explicitly as a form of vendor lock-in, straight out of the Apple playbook 😅 

aka: you're less likely to move brands if there's a risk it'll fit differently vs continuing to buy products that you're familiar with.

Was trying a different shoe brand in the same size of what I own and it didn't fit either
