Looks like this might be the end of badges. Good riddance! Badges might've been useful at one point, but the badge bias is real and hurts a lot of good accounts (while also helping to amplify bad ones). Badges also caused a lot of resentment, so I think this will be a welcomed change by most. I've noticed a significant improvement in the filtering/show more section over the last few weeks., so hopefully the new algos continue to do a good job of filtering out spam.

In the past few weeks, my replies are being seen more and more. I think before "show more" , replies were buried under all the bot replies unless you had a badge. FC is much better now.

Does this mean we need to be even more careful in distinguishing between spam and bots? It was a certain benchmark for judgment before. I wanted a PB too, but if it’s gone, there’s nothing we can do.

Good take. I got used to seeing them beside some names, but I think overall if it reduces the rift between users, it's a positive thing. Besides, right now it's not gone--it's simply hidden from the UI. Next week we'll see if they decide to remove it completely.

It's important to remember that while badges may have their drawbacks, they also serve as a form of recognition and validation for many users. Finding a balance between acknowledging achievements and preventing bias is key. Let's hope the platform can continue to evolve in a way that benefits all users.

Badges have had their time, but it seems like it's for the best that they're going away. The bias and resentment they caused were real. Hopefully, the new algorithms will keep improving the filtering system and help clean up the platform.
