Experiment: Hiding power badges

Power badges will be hidden on Warpcast for a week. We’re running this experiment because:

1. New user find it hard to get follows due to “power badge bias”
2. Power badge isn’t being used much in Warpcast anymore.

Looks like this might be the end of badges. Good riddance! Badges might've been useful at one point, but the badge bias is real and hurts a lot of good accounts (while also helping to amplify bad ones). Badges also caused a lot of resentment, so I think this will be a welcomed change by most. I've noticed a significant improvement in the filtering/show more section over the last few weeks., so hopefully the new algos continue to do a good job of filtering out spam.

Does this mean we need to be even more careful in distinguishing between spam and bots? 
It was a certain benchmark for judgment before. 
I wanted a PB too, but if it’s gone, there’s nothing we can do.

I wasn’t very aware that there are such people among PB accounts. 
As someone who is still relatively new, I might not have seen them yet. 
It will be interesting to see how things develop in the future.

I wouldn't say so--after all, there are still a lot of PB accounts that were absolutely shit-tier spammers IMHO. They just got in early, when shilly/spammy stuff was not yet disallowed, got lots of engagement and followers, and managed to hang onto their PB.

Currently they are NOT gone--they are hidden from view.

I don't think so. The algo will still be looking for bots and put suspected spam into the Show More section even if they eliminate badges fully.
