I placed a small wager to test it out. What do you get if you win? The amount you bet or the prize pool from the losers proportional to winners? What does the NFT do?

First principle: The losing side's amount gets distributed to the winning side (derivative).

Fun side: Every placed bet distributed 0.69% to all steaks and another 0.69% to all previous bets. So it makes sense to be early.
