Masks have served an important role as a means of discipline and have been used to admonish. Common in China, Africa, Oceania, and North America, admonitory masks usually completely cover the features of the wearer. Some African peoples hold that the first mask to be used was an admonitory one. In one version of the mask origin, a child, repeatedly told not to, persisted in following its mother to fetch water. To frighten and discipline the child, the mother painted a hideous face on the bottom of her water gourd. Another version is that the mask was invented by a secret society to escape recognition while punishing marauders. In New Britain, an island of Papua New Guinea, members of a secret terrorist society called the Dukduk appear in monstrous five-foot masks to police, to judge, and to execute offenders. Aggressive supernatural spirits of an almost demonic nature are represented by these masks, which are constructed from a variety of materials

The Carnival is supposedly inspired from the Portuguese celebration 'Entrudo. ' According to Carnival history, the first records of the Rio Carnival ball was held prior to the 19th century, or the year 1840 to be exact, as participants performed the waltz and polka.

Brazilian Carnival masks are another significant part of Carnival week. They were first introduced and became a main attraction of the festival by the Portuguese in the 1840s. Masquerade parties were very popular then and have remained a popular attraction at Carnival.

What happens if you take your mask off for a little bit out in public?🎭 When you remove your mask you greatly increase the area where your breath expands. If you are a considerable amount of distance away from another person it won’t harm anyone. Think of it this way, if you had a hair on your palm you couldn’t blow it away with a mask on. No matter how close to your face you bring it, or how hard you blow the hair will stay in place. If you take off the mask you can easily blow the hair several feet away. When you do touch the mask with your hands you have a risk of picking up particles from your breath, that have been saturating the material. The risk is much lower than if you touched your own saliva. You should wash your hands afterwards, but this is an unrealistic expectation unless you are in a medical profession.🎭

I see glimpses of the person he is becoming, and it fills me with a mixture of pride and introspection. His curiosity is boundless, his desire to understand the world around him palpable. Am I doing enough to nurture this growth, or am I still clinging to outdated notions of who he used to be

The Mask Covered In Lace. I caught a glimpse of those eyes As I said goodbye They were dark blue With a hint of hue There was no face Just a mask covered in lace What a beauty they are Like gems they are. To one, goodbye I said To another my mind lead Gone to the shadows of the room Where the walls are covered in brooms I followed I followed The mask lead me Welcome again, they said to me A face without the mask, I long to see But all there was, a reminder of the sea I followed I followed Moving, turning From corner to corner Till the mask stopped So sudden, my heart dropped Then the mask said to me Why do you pursue me? The pleasure of satisfaction, I long for A beauty to treasure, like never before I saw a sparkle Eyes a shining marble Hands trembling Feet shuffling As I drew nearer That I may see clearer The face covered in a mask of lace Take off the mask I must To see a face I long for, I trust Ahead lay my task To set free a face Trapped in the mask A mask covered in lace.

Hinter der Maske I can't do this anymore Waking up every single day Doing the same routine over and over Pretending that I am okay Putting a big smile on my face To cover up the pain I feel Should I keep my life stuck in this phase Or let all the thoughts in my head to spill Aching for everyone to see The wound inside starting to bleed Struggling to be society's best rendition of me Why can't anybody hear my scream? Living became a constant nightmare Fighting an endless battle that I can't quit Lost in the midst of darkness and despair Please find me, let me live
