learnings from rocketr in college:
- don't build a marketplace right away (or instantly compete with bountycaster)
- easy to start in a community already selling products, hard to break out
- ignore fiat conversion and msb licenses completely, payment processing as a product is hard
- most popular payments options 2016-2019 ordered were: paypal, bitcoin, stripe, ethereum || ethereum, alt coins, tipping coins and stripe seem like logical start (+% on delayed tips)
- don't go overly onchain or run nodes on day one
- game mods were most popular (think gta, roblox etc), build a business ebook/tutorials/memberships/event tickets were secondary
- simple commentary reputation can prevent most scammers
- order tracking is helpful, think usps for email/dc delivery, it also wins paypal disputes
- adding shipping addresses later is easy, shipping labels is harder
- 5% fees worked, 2% with $10/mo membership, competitors will go 0%
- follow the leader product, ppl use what other sellers use
