By the way, a lot of movies are filmed in the Dominican Republic. For example, xXx: Return of Xander Cage, where Vin Diesel somehow covers hundreds of kilometers on skis and a longboard in just 10 minutes. 😂 Or The Godfather Part III, where they used Santo Domingo as a stand-in for Havana because they couldn’t film in Cuba due to the communists. There’s also a scene in Red Notice shot in the town of Altos de Chavón. These are just the ones I know for sure because I’ve actually been to the filming locations. But tour guides on excursions tell all sorts of crazy stories! They’ll swear that Francis Ford Coppola filmed Apocalypse Now on the Chavón River, and that scenes from King Kong, were shot there… oh yeah! Pirates of the Caribbean and The Blue Lagoon! And yeah, that’s all nonsense too. 😆 What always amazed me was that no one ever bothered to fact-check these stories, even though every tourist had a phone with internet right in their hands! 🤷‍♂️

I was a tourist in the city I live in. Yes the tour guides lie so much, but it's so interesting to listen to it 😅
