Of course, we didn’t hit a person! It was a herd of goats—we crashed into them like a bowling ball hitting pins.

See, there aren’t any cities along this highway, just a couple of turnoffs to small villages and random locations. But for the most part, it’s just fields on both sides—sugarcane fields and lots of pastures. Yeah, these places are fenced off with barbed wire, hedges, and all that. Honestly, it’s really beautiful out there.

Turns out, according to the insurance company (which, thankfully, covered all the repair costs), some farmer forgot to close his gate, and the goats wandered onto the road. We got lucky—no one was hurt, except for one poor goat. But another driver might’ve panicked, or worse, what if it had been cows? That could’ve ended badly.

Moral of the story: speeding at night is not the best idea! 😅

So basically, we all gathered around the goat we had hit. Our driver walked up, swearing loudly (he didn’t know yet that the insurance would cover the costs) and looking really upset. Then he and the guy who dragged us to donate blood got into a heated argument. One felt bad for the goat and wanted to bury it, lol. The other was yelling that because of this stupid goat—or whoever let them loose on the road—we almost crashed, so we might as well take it and make a barbecue out of it! 😂

Just picture this: four guys standing in the middle of the night, next to a dead goat, shouting at each other. It’s hilarious looking back on it now. But at the time, we had no bag, no shovel—nothing. So we just left the goat on the side of the road and drove home. We finally got back when the sun was already rising.

That’s wild! 😂 Arguing over a goat at night—bury it or barbecue it? No bag, no shovel, just chaos. Leaving it on the road and driving back at sunrise is the perfect ending.
