Germany reduced its nuclear power capacity for a number of reasons, particularly concern post-Fukushima. While the country has a long-history of anti-nuclear sentiment, the decision to phase our nuclear was supported by a significant majority of the German public and political parties as part of a concerted shift to renewable energy sources.

But I appreciate that narrative doesn't feature "degrowthers" or "hysterical greens".
