Not a resident for tax purposes of any state, works remotely, flies into onsites once per year, has a sick beard.

Lots more affordable 10gbit and spf consumer routers came out last couple years. I'd go for TRENDnet or Netgear over tplink if possible (latter has a lot of sketchy sec drama).

Nice! I'm thinking more for friends. I don't doubt that it's a terrible business, but some things should still exist even if they're not profitable. :)

Anyone else starting to get worried about this rise of casual open imperialism? Like, not "peaceful trade at prices social justice activists don't like" imperialism but actual "let's go conquer stuff" imperialism. I know it's "meant to be a joke", but often such jokes are a first step to normalizing something dark...

Hey everyone 😊, Posting my last newsletter for 2024- Decentralized Hotels in Japan 🧡 In this edition, I’m diving into the concept of 'decentralized hotels' – a great model that's been evolving over the past decade and how is emerging in Japan. This approach reimagines old towns as unified hotel spaces, where the entire town functions as one interconnected lodging experience, rather than individual, isolated hotels.

Makes me think of an analogy to LLMs: Impact metrics are like benchmarks for the weights. They exist but can be gamed by definition. Due diligence is crafting good prompts that produce valuable results, often requires some subject matter familiarity to do effectively.

Dumb Money is up there, from memestonks to masking to inequality to frontline workers faux worship to loss of trust in institutions. There's a lot there.

Kinda same, but also strangely liberating that something so massively unexpected can still happen? And once more? There is something comfortable yet terrifying that the forces of Institutions ℒ️ whether it's a political party or banks or media or whatever control the outcome. The break from this comfort of stability can be a source of hope for big positive change, even if we end up with big negative change in the short term. It made me feel that reality was broken all along, and now we can see the cracks that we were blind to before, hidden behind the veils of narrative.

Or add this to your gitconfig aliases: pr = "!pr(){ git fetch origin pull/$1/head:pr-$1; git checkout pr-$1; }; pr"; Then you can `git pr $PR_NUMBER`
