Despite the Liberal Party having a massive lead, many lifelong NDP voters are still abandoning the party to “vote strategically.” Likely, these voters are unaware that the NDP is likely to fall below the threshold needed to maintain recognized party status and this will lose funding and be unable to ask questions in the House of Commons. Strategic voting should be employed only where there is so chance of flipping a conservative seat. There is no benefit to ousting the third party that will already bolster a liberal minority should one arise (it won’t, it’s expected to be a blowout for Liberals either way). tl;dr if you’re an NDP supporter, and especially if you live in BC, vote NDP. It’s the more “strategic” option.

I really want the NDP to be good but I'm tired of Singh repeating Conservatives' talking points just to shit on the Liberals, I really wish they swapped out leadership when they had the chance. I want to vote NDP but so many ridings like mine are just bench warmers to fill a ballot. They're not real candidates, barely any information or presence. I'll probably still vote NDP because I think the Overton Window is important, as I have in the past, but it's getting harder and harder.

I haven’t seen Singh “repeating Conservatives’ talking points” though yeah he does spend a lot of time shitting on Liberals. That is kind of the role of the third party though, and it’s the move the official opposition takes generally too. Here’s my opinion. Take it or leave it. The NDP (especially when they bolster a minority) is a bullwark against the Liberals shifting to the right. Trudeau, for all his social democratic tendencies was still very corporate and very militarist. Carney is expected to be even more so. Without the NDP as the informal coalition last cycle, we would not have seen the introduction of dentalcare and pharmacare, and without them now, we may not see the expansion of these to more age groups. The NDP is also the only party to have publicly decried Israel’s genocide on Palestine. Meanwhile, Trudeau stated publicly that he “is a Zionist and that’s ok.” I also just really don’t want to have this country slip further towards two-party politics.
