I want to spend a couple months in BC (outside of Vancouver), where should I spend at least a few weeks?

You pick. :) Probably shoulder season (fall/spring).

If you want, you can get to pretty wild places fairly easily. Kayaking in remote areas up the georgia strait, rainforests everywhere, hiking/camping in mountains within a few hours of Vancouver, etc.

Always wanted to visit Haida Gwaii - requires some planning.

Kelowna is am easy & beautiful wine region.

Ever visit Osoyoos? We went for a few days for a wine tasting half marathon (wild premise), really unexpected biome—extremely dry, like Southern California. Tons of wineries.

nope, never been down there! a lot of the interior (i.e. between cascade mtns and rockies) is like that.
