professionally, I think there are 2 main ones:

(1) Working with great people (in EF and ecosystem generally). Getting to learn from them, support them, see them grow and succeed.

(2) Belief that we're part of something historic, a chance to influence the system of the world (basically: AIB).

- Current level of discourse feels half-baked at best.
- Not sure SV is likely to be the origin of any. Astroturf problem. More likely to produce Fordlandia than America.

Hard to generalize. Most time broken down into either communicating with people (1:1s, team calls, meetings of various kinds, writing emails or instructions, etc) or heads-down work (reading, reviewing, trying to understand a problem, making plans, making decisions).

I'm not sure. My impression is that despite the attention this problem receives, it remains under-studied and under-resourced relative to its importance. I know many people are shifting attention towards it.

I do think the social-layer will play an important role here, and people are wrong to dismiss that approach.

We'll eventually need to adopt quantum-safe crypto in various places. There's work being done by various research teams on this but it's years away from being a big concern is my understanding.

Speculation seems inevitable, and I think it does contribute to adoption. That's different than necessary.

I can imagine a world where it doesn't happen and people still use Ethereum. E.g. imagine a culture where speculation/gambling is so socially ostracized that people just don't do it.

Yes, but it varies.

I think I used to enjoy it more (and so I wrote more). 

When writing feels like a chore or obligation, it tends to suck the fun out. Challenging to have consistent output (with consistent quality) but avoid that dynamic.

In the Network State, I think he over-rates culture-war issues that are personally important to him, but ultimately I think are very niche and not globally meaningful.

I doubt the first Network States will look like states, more likely they will overlap with and supplement existing ones.
