Nope, the claim is that having money does not reduce likelihood of grifting.

I can see an argument that there may be a positive relationship between being obsessed with accumulating wealth and having wealth, but I'm happy to just settle at a neutral "let's not correlate these things at all" middleground.

Could be, but I bet we'd have a semantic disagreement about "grift" (honestly hate that word).

Snippet from the latest Solana tokenomics drama (screenshot), the implication that someone having a lot of money means that their interests are aligned with the rest of the community is specious.

There's no reason to assume that the wealthiest people are going to be disproportionally altruistic towards everyone else to their own detriment, and there's no reason to assume that the abundance of their wealth means that their interests are inherently aligned.

These things *can* happen, and we should be grateful when they do (Elon is a great example, someone whose many interests over the years were aligned with what most people wanted for a time), but that's more an ephemeral serendipity than a relationship.

In my experience, wealthiest people are least likely to grift. The next tier down are the highest likelihood. Very hard to get super wealthy off grift; possible to get wealthy off it.
