as much as I don't love US gun culture, I also don't feel safe in my home in canada and can't legally own *any* firearm to protect myself or my family. and to add salt to the wound, you also risk prosecution for defending yourself against home invasion or other intruders.

tbh I haven’t really looked into it seriously (yet) but my understanding is that pretty much all common guns are banned for purchase at this time. if you already own one, I believe the gov has a buyback program.

The ban is about specific disallow lists of models of guns.

Dude, you can own a gun. You need to take a course on how to operate and store it safely, which ends in you receiving a Possession and Acquisition license which allows you to purchase at a store. Courses are easy, takes a bit to get the PAL, then you are set.
