In my experience, it’s less about the advancement of cryptocurrencies and more about the total collapse in the competence of institutions and the erosion of trust. I don’t believe DAOs will replace governments—competent institutions will. Cryptocurrency is the escape hatch.

I was referring more to the notion that money is only possible when issued by fiat from a state with an army to enforce it.

I don't agree with the framing of the rest either, but not important. :)

Mainly that I think both can be true, and will ultimately be a blending beyond recognition.

Competent institutions are ones with more accountability, less civic duty burden to operate, more clear purpose and constraints that can be accelerated safely. I'm sure this will involve some forms of smart contracts, even if no longer call them "DAOs".
