genuine question: but what if the internet is down? like what if there is no connectivity, then you can't technically be "onchain" right? i think about this more than i want to admit

We can sign a bunch of transactions and share them with each other, and try to get it to an upcoming validator out of band (satellite relay?). 🙃 If internet is down for everyone long term and validators can't communicate then the chain will stop finalizing.

I think what you're getting at though: is making a valid signed transaction count as onchain, or is getting it finalized by validators the part that makes it onchain?
