not to be (appropriately) humorless but I find that many things are best when run by Germans although, ironically, the bounty of American supermarkets is one of the things I truly miss in Germany https://twitter.com/very__regular/status/1802829606472622222?s=46&t=V64QCyFfgv2TN_lvRWQhWw

What about them do you miss? I've only legit missed Trader Joes since moving back to Canada, but maybe our supermarket culture is comparatively similar.

I think Canadian and USA supermarkets are similar (based only on my experience in Vancouver). In Germany, at least in the cities, the grocery stores are much smaller and have much more limited selection but are much more frequent throughout the city. Lots of small- to medium-size stores rather than big true supermarkets. This tweet sums it up pretty well: https://twitter.com/biscuitcoded/status/1802837888742342858?s=46&t=V64QCyFfgv2TN_lvRWQhWw
