The left elites hate Israel for the same reason they hate ordinary Americans. They hate values, standards, and meaning, and having any sense of values or tradition stands in the way of their open society and most importantly a reminder for God.

An Israeli recruiter visited my Chabad house(jewish campus ministry) in college and his actions basically painted a target on my back for a nazi who stabbed me a couple blocks from the house.
