It's AMA time. Sorry, just a few minutes late getting myself settled in here. I've got a nice cold compression cycle running on my knee for the next 30 minutes, so I'm here for any questions you might have about the images I've shared today, or photography in general.

Outrigger Sunset seems like a really special piece. Is there a special story behind the photo or the process of creating it?

Ha ha ha... well, there's always a story. To be honest, I was attending an event in Waikiki, and I was running late. I knew there was a chance for a sunset from the venue, so I brought my camera and when I stepped outside, I saw how cloudy it was and almost ran the camera back upstairs. But I was late, so I didn't and that's the only reason I had the camera with me. When this sunset started, I didn't have enough time to get anywhere. I was at the Sheraton Waikiki, which has a big infinity pool, but I couldn't get even a palm tree or some sand in my foreground, so as the sky lit up, all I could think was that I'd have this great image of water and sky. The musician performing stopped in the middle of his song to say: I grew up here, and this doesn't happen very often... you should go out and watch. Right as the color hit the peak, this outrigger canoe team paddled into the frame... they did a sprint, and were lined up perfectly for this single shot. Right place, right time.
