Modern construction is focused solely on cost minimization and utility; the Pyramids and cathedrals were motivated by religious fervor and culture.

We've forgotten because we have new priorities.

I think it’s far more complex than that - there’s actually a field of study called neuro-architecture that states designed spaces influence human cognitive processes, emotions, & well-being. The aim should be to create environments that meet functional needs AND support & enhance human health and productivity
