I'm thrilled to introduce our newest member and this week's featured founder: Serpin Taxt @serpintaxt , co-founder of Ethos Network @ethos-network .

Serpin Taxt is a builder whose journey began in Web2 product development and ultimately led him into Web3, where he’s now tackling one of crypto’s biggest challenges: trust. Having first stumbled upon Bitcoin back in 2011 (like many, choosing not to buy at $30), Serpin later watched the industry explode. He started out trading and running a hedge fund, but his deeper mission was always to build.

That mission crystallized into Ethos Network, an onchain reputation platform on @base . With  $2 million in funding, Serpin and his team have created what many are calling the "Yelp of crypto Twitter," solving a critical $9 billion problem of fraud and scams in the crypto ecosystem.

I'm thrilled to welcome you all to this special Founders Club mingling session with our featured founder of the week, @serpintaxt , co-founder of @ethos-network .

Our mission at Founders Club is to create meaningful connections between visionary builders and connect promising founders with early high-quality adopters. Today's session perfectly embodies that mission as we dive deep into one of the most fundamental challenges in Web3: trust and reputation.

Serpin's journey is particularly relevant to us all - from his early days witnessing Bitcoin's rise (and initially passing on it!), to trading through market cycles, and eventually building Ethos Network - a platform establishing onchain reputation and accountability in a space plagued by $9 billion in annual fraud.

Gm everyone thanks for having me :) super excited to be here and take part in this 

my journey on ethos comes from a long road in web2 SaaS building. always an observe of crypto on the side, I didn’t start trading until 2020/2021.

I was successful in trading turned that success into a hedge fund, 0x5f capital. with that as we were deploying capital I thought friend tech was particularly interesting .. even tho it ended up being a rug 

friend tech was the first time we saw the idea of connecting your social identity on Twitter to the actions you do onchain. people were locked in on farming friend tech and trust was important for buying someone’s key- if you couldn’t trust someone they might dump their key on you and leave you with a loss! 

I felt like there was an opportunity to build a system around proof of credibility.. something friend tech looked like it could be but never was.

and recruited my old colleague from web2 to go fund and build the idea :)

I had the pleasure of connecting with you through friendtech and the bitcoin city previously. As a socialfi enthusiast and media founder, I've always believed that the crypto industry audience deserves better information sources and market participation opportunities. 

The rise of platforms like legion and echo proves that these types of products have PMF

Now we have kaito, which allowed people to discover quality and undervalued KOLs, and I also believe that Ethos is currently on a promising path.

I installed the Google extension and spent some time exploring the platform. Since there aren't many applicable users yet, there aren't many accounts with high scores. What kind of adjustments do you anticipate for the registration threshold for Ethos Network in the future?

Do you consider Ethos more as a prediction trading platform based on KOL reputation, or as a social infra, or perhaps both?
