This weekend, I visited Yoko Ono’s Wish Tree exhibition at the Park Avenue Armory, celebrating her 92nd birthday with 92 trees, each carrying the hopes of strangers. I spent a long time reading through them—some made me tear up. I wrote my own, long and winding, and tucked it away in a tree. Just felt right. At the end of the hall, interns had set up a finger-painting station, a way to transfer the energy of your wish onto a communal tree. I love art that grows through collective hands—it reminded me of the generative art painting FCNY created together for the summer solstice. In this photo, I’m standing at the edge of a blanket—one of the custom pieces these teens made for their video installation, projected onto the ceiling. This one was my favorite. Simple and to the point: What do you need more of in the world? My wishes have always been the same. Every year, on my birthday, I wish for the same thing. What would you wish for?
